Embodied Robot Models for Interdisciplinary Emotion Research
نویسندگان
چکیده
Due to their complex nature, emotions cannot be properly understood from the perspective of a single discipline. In this paper, I discuss how use robots as models is beneficial for interdisciplinary emotion research. Addressing issue through lens my own research, focus on critical analysis embodied different aspects emotion, relate them theories in psychology and neuroscience, provide representative examples. concrete ways which robot can used carry out assessing contributions: hypothetical models, operational specific emotional phenomena, general principles, “dimensions”. conclude by discussing advantages using over other models.

Staged Models for Interdisciplinary Research
Modellers of complex biological or social systems are often faced with an invidious choice: to use simple models with few mechanisms that can be fully analysed, or to construct complicated models that include all the features which are thought relevant. The former ensures rigour, the latter relevance. We discuss a method that combines these two approaches, beginning with a complex model and the...

متن کاملAn Interdisciplinary Approach for a Holistic and Embodied Emotion Model in Humanoid Agents
Computational models of the human decision making process have already enabled several insights and applications. Nevertheless, such models have only recently begun to consider that simply modelling rational decision making was insufficient to represent human behavior. Recent efforts have started to consider this factor by utilizing computational models of emotions. One of the most significant ...
متن کاملDesigning a Sociable Humanoid Robot for Interdisciplinary Research
This paper presents the humanoid robot BARTHOC and the smaller, but system equal twin BARTHOC Junior. Both robots have been developed to study human-robot interaction (HRI). The main focus of BARTHOC’s design was to realize the expression and behavior of the robot to be as human-like as possible. This allows to apply the platform to manifold research and demonstration areas. With its human-like...
